Extremadura Classical Guitar Asociation
Our project began back in 2004 while having chamber music classes with professor Fernando Fontes in the ESML - Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (Lisbon). In the course of our training as musicians we were fortunate to attend masterclasses with guitarists such as Dejan Ivanovic, Joaquin Clerch, Mihalis Kontaxakis and Piñeiro Nagy. During the master course we worked with Ricardo Gallén. Since then, our duo has performed in various countries (Portugal, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and Russia) and we have collaborated with different artists, such as the Camerata Lysy, the European Union Chamber Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra Kremlin and Piñeiro Nagy, the latter in a project devoted to transcribing the music of Albéniz and Granados. This project led us to play in 2011 and 2012 in the USA, China, Macau, Japan and Czech Republic. Throughout 12 years of making music together and sharing stages and experiences, our repertoire has varied in genre, atmosphere, origin and even century. When we decided to record this album on our 10th anniversary, nothing seemed to make more sense than to record a repertoire only we had played. This music alignment thus became inevitable: an arrangement we made while studying with Maestro Ricardo Gallén ("Suite Bergamasque"); a piece by José Peixoto ("Scan") which, while not having been written for us, had never been recorded; two pieces written for and dedicated to MikroDuo ("Mensagem da Noite" by Manuel Durão and "Suite Três Instantes" by Carlos Gutkin). These very different worlds come together through our musical and personal affinities, making this Album a small celebration of our Duo's path. Much like these last 12 years, this Album was naturally built in a very Singular way.

Ricardo Gallén is a distinguished guitarist with a flourishing career. His inspired and innovative interpretations place him as a first-rate musician, while his revolutionary vision of guitar technique and teaching is the best proof of its quality. "Immense creativity and virtuosity that can be sensed just by looking at his hands," said Master Leo Brouwer, elevating Ricardo Gallén to a very uncommon level of mastery. His miraculous abilities have allowed him to take his performances all over the world in recitals alone, in duo or with orchestras, in important venues such as the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the National Auditorium in Madrid, the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, the Palau de la Música Catalana, the Sala Auer of the Indiana University or the Sibelius Accademy in Helsinki among others. Ricardo Gallén has premiered on numerous occasions works by renowned composers and participated in several projects under the direction of important directors such as Maximiano Valdés, En Shao, Juan Jose Mena, Monica Huggett, Leo Brouwer, Jordi Savall or Seirgiu Commission, standing out as a milestone in his career the premiere of the Sonata del Pensador that Master Leo Brouwer dedicated to him. Winner of the most important awards (Francisco Tárrega, Andrés Segovia and Markneukirchen competitions among others) has taught at universities such as the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, The Cleveland Institute of Music, or the University "Franz Liszt" in Weimar. Ricardo Gallén has been a member of several juries in numerous guitar competitions, as well as a guest teacher in Master Classes with great success. Their recordings, from the first album, have received sensational critics. His latest works of the Complete Work for Bach's lute as well as the Sonatas for Guitar by Fernando Sor have been widely considered as masterpieces by the specialized press: "We are definitely before a Master that Lope de Vega could have said" who tried it, knows it " "Sor and Gallén, both shine"
